Emmet has been an invited speaker at forecasting conferences for iBF and the Forecast Summit, in Boston and published in the Oct 2005 issue of Foresight by the International Institute of Forecasters (IIF).
Eich Dyn has three main goals:
OK, I’ll be frank! I’m a data geek. I enjoy product forecasting and planning. I have worked with forecasting since 1984 and I have built several planning and forecasting systems for Hewlett Packard Company (HP) over the years. In most cases, I did both the design and build of the forecasting or planning system and then I had to actually use the system I built as a major part of my job. My background in both Information Systems and Business Management has enabled me to cross the lines between IT and Marketing or Supply Chain, many times. This is why I have been an invited guest speaker at international forecasting conferences on several occasions.
The best system I designed is still in use today after about 10 years. That is the FIJI system used in HP Ink and Laser Toner supplies.
FIJI uses the normal Oracle databases, Hyperion Essbase and MS Office Suite, to gather data, calculate a multi-dimensional, cause-and-effect, consumer behavior based model, and present the results in Excel or PowerPoint. For the major HP supplies we have achieved an accuracy of ± 4% at a SKU level at three months out. Not bad in a multi billion dollars business and it beats any statistical model I have found.
